One Week!

I'm a week old! Here's some photo journalism of what Ive been up to...

Bundled up and ready for a walk.
Meeting my Gramma!
Look! I'm ready for immersion baths (and I need one too!)
Posing with my teddy for my 1 week picture. Falling asleep while being burped - My favorite pastime!

(Mommy doesn't have time for formating right now...)

On Tuesday Isla turned a week old!
Here are just a few of the events that have taken place...
On Sunday Isla met her Tia Margo and cousin Diego, who actually tried to climb into her crib and cried when we took him out of the room.

On Tuesday we had a follow up Dr's appointment and Isla has gain more than a pound since Thursday (Our Dr. thinks this is impossible and that the scale was wrong last week, but also said we can start doing one 4 hour stretch of sleeping at night without nursing). In the evening Isla's Gramma Suzi came to visit and has been our personal Mary Poppins, whipping things into shape around here.

On Wednesday Isla met her Tia Barbara (and little cousin in her Mommy's tummy!). Isla's cord fell off and now she has the sweetest little belly button. Also on Wednesday Mommy and Daddy immersed themselves in The Happiest Baby on the Block and are learning the techniques. We have learned to calm her down during her crying jag that takes place every night from 12am-3am...now if she could just start sleeping during that time... Our new bedtime is 3am.

Today Isla gave Daddy a HUGE smile! Mommy and Daddy think it was probably gas, but Gramma thinks otherwise. Tonight Isla will be getting her first bath.
We have also taken a walk everyday - Isla loves to nap on the walk.

So far parenting is going pretty well...all the cliches are turning out to be true - we are both exhausted (although a lot less since Gramma arrived), pacing the house at 2 am, staying up way to late just to make sure she is breathing or just to watch her sleep, falling asleep unexpectedly at all hours, laughing (and for Ali, occasionally crying) without warning, eating breakfast at 12pm, changing 20 diapers a day (sometimes mere seconds apart), reading parenting books during any downtime we have and working harder than we do at our jobs. Despite all the craziness, we are loving (almost) every minute of it. It is the most rewarding thing I've ever done!

She is SO CUTE!!! Especially like the one of her falling asleep at burping time. Thanks for all the news & photos--who cares if they're formatted?! It is fun to follow along with the happenings! Hopefully Aleks and I can get down there to visit before too long. It will be fun for you all when April & Will come out in a few days. Love, Chris

Ali! She is a cutie patootie! Isla is so very lucky to have such wonderful parents (and grandparents) in her life!

Parenting is definitely not easy, but I am certain it is the most fulfilling job to ever to be had!
