October Get Away

A week after the airshow we went to Yuma to visit our favorite God Family!!!
Isla can't get enough of Jason, Stacy, Teal and Avreigh. She "calls" Teal and Stacy every day on the phone. Any plane that flies by is being flown by Jason. All babies are "Baby Avreighs," and any time we play airplane Isla wants to fly to Yuma.
We had a wonderful time visiting and Isla loved looking at the airplanes on base. Here she is getting a tour from our beautiful God Daughter Teal. She has a book with a bunny parachuting and whenever we read it she tells me that she is going to be a pilot and "do chuting." Isla also got her first "tattoo" - a harrier! She was nervous about getting it because she still doesn't like stickers or bandaids on her skin, but after Stacy and I each got our own tattoos and we tried putting one on her shirt without success, Isla let me put one on. She picked her tummy (a favorite place for stickers too, but only on her shirt).Isla also got a "Someone in the Marine Corps Loves Me" teddy bear from her God Parents. She loves her Teddy and calls him "Yuma Bear." On the morning we returned from our visit I found Isla giving Yuma Bear a Dr. Pepper. She said, "Yuma Bear drinking Daddy's beer!!!" (Andrew never drinks canned beer, so I'm not sure where that came from...)Also, Isla threw up on our drive home...I know the posts have been about throwing up a lot lately, but I only mention this because it was one of those parenting highlights reel moments. We were in the middle of the dessert in the dark and Isla had been very fussy and very hungry and crying nonstop, when suddenly we heard a little barf noise. We both looked at each other with "oh please no!" expressions... Isla perked up after getting sick and ran around and climbed on the suitcase while we cleaned the car, found a change of clothes and cleaned ourselves in the buggy neon glow of a Burger King parking lot in El Centro. Luckily Isla fell asleep after that and the rest of the ride was uneventful.
