It has been sunny and hot on her last two birthdays, so we took the plunge and held her party at a park. While not exactly warm, the wind and rain held off until after the party and it was so nice not having to coordinate everything at our house. Due to some clerical errors and a kind park manager, we were also given the gazebo rental for free!
Isla's party was Rapunzel themed. We served pulled pork sandwiches with coleslaw, chips and veggies, fruit salad and Golden Flower punch. For dessert there were cupcakes and a tower cake (which wasn't actually eaten until after the party.) We brought a ton of sand toys and some Rapunzel coloring papers and the kids spent most of the time playing in the sand and on the equipment.
My Mom (& Dad helped!) made these amazing capes for the boys and I made these beaded tiara's for the girls.
Here's some of the fun... (I forgot to take pictures once most people got there. Oops!)
After the party Isla's Grandma A came by and we relaxed and enjoyed the left overs while Isla enjoyed all her new gifts.
The night before the party, on Isla's actual birthday, we had a small family party. Isla wanted to have individual pineapple upside down cakes, like the ones we got on a recipe card from the Tiki Room.
