Last Day Luau!

One of the things we LOVE about Isla's preschool is that they do NOT have a preschool graduation celebration.  Instead each class has a special last day celebration in class and the whole school celebrates with a luau.

It was very hard to say good bye to Isla's amazing teaching team this year.  She had a brand new teacher and two amazing aids - one mom age and one grandma age.  It was the perfect combination of love, fun, discipline and enthusiasm.  She also had a very special class.  Everyone genuinely got along and enjoyed each other.

At the last day celebration the kids had special snack and then the parents arrived early and we read a book with the class, watched them sing their favorite songs and dances and then we were presented with their binders - a collection of art, pictures and work samples from the school year.  Then the kids gave their teacher and aides end of the year gifts (necklaces).

Before we left the classroom, Ms. B pulled me aside and told me Isla's plans for the summer, "Oh, we're not doing much. I'm going to stay home and go to the beach a lot and go to the pool a lot and eat a lot of ice cream and just lie around and fan myself."

The next night we had dinner with the G's and headed over to the luau.  As soon as we got there I saw families from my classes and pretty much spent the entire evening talking to my students and introducing them to my family.  The kids ran around, tried the jumpies and had fun dancing and hula hooping to the DJ.  (Gangnam Style was a huge hit!)
