Mommy & Daddy are Pediatricians

Isla has been keeping us extra busy! She has a little infection in her thumb where there is an ingrown nail. This would be a non-issue, except that she is under 3 months old, so any infection can mean a trip to the hospital with IV antibiotics. Luckily, with the help of the children's hospital triage phone nurses, we've been keeping Isla healthy and happy!

Isla's thumb gets 3 soaks a day for 20 minutes in a saline solution and then antibiotic ointment and a mitten to keep her hand out of her mouth. The first time we had to soak her hand in a bleach and water solution, so we covered the bowl to minimize fumes. (I stopped using bleach except in the bathroom when I got pregnant, so it was counter intuitive to soak my child's hand in bleachy water!) Tomorrow we are going to the Dr. for a check up.

Andrew and I have decided that Isla is trying to come up with new and exciting ways to make sure we are paying attention to her - she eats every 2-3 hours (which takes up to an hour because she needs to be upright for 20 minutes after each meal), she has tummy time 3 times a day, she has her little neck-ercise 4-6 times a day, and now she gets her hand soak. Of course when she isn't doing one of these things, she is acting extra cute and ready to play and were are unable to tear ourselves away.

You have your hands full. If you want me to come over after work and sit with you for awhile or to maybe bring you something from the store let me know. Love MaMa A

She looks so relaxed there! Nothing like a nice hand soak, right? Even if it is bleachy. How are things going with the hangnail?

Despite all these obstacles that keep coming up, Isla is still one happy and peaceful little baby! =)

She's lucky to be in the good hands of Mommy and Daddy A!
