Showered with Love!

A few weeks ago four of my nearest and dearest hosted a baby shower for me. It was absolutely stunning, with tons of adorable details and delicious food!
The shower seriously could have been planned by professional party planners - everything detail was thought out. Most impressive of all, they put together the shower amid a crazy time - all of them were getting ready to go back to work, one is in the midst of 1st trimester exhaustion, one was in a wedding the night before and in the middle of moving, one had her daughter's birthday party the day before and house guests, and one was living in a gutted house while renovating it!

The theme was "Ships Ahoy! It's a Boy!" with lots of whales and little nautical details. It was SO cute!

Everyone kept asking if Isaac's room was going to be whale theme, but when my friends asked what theme I wanted for the shower, I chose whale theme because Andrew is not a huge fan of whales or nautical, so it was not an option for his room.

It was really fun to see all my extended SoCal family, work friends, school friends and mommy friends together - especially since there is getting to be a lot of overlap between the groups. It was also wonderful to have my Aunt Didi and my mom attend the shower (& visit with them & my dad & Aunt Carol during the week they visited!).

Isaac was showered with tons of precious baby clothes, all kinds of supplies, diapers, shoes, toys, books, and room accessories. More importantly I know he (& our family) has a huge network of love and support as we make our transition to a family of four. We are SO blessed!

Isla was also given some toys and books, which made it easier when I came home with all the goodies. She took possession of a few things (a blanket and towel), but was ok with the general premise that Isaac has nothing and she has loads of things, so we need to even the scales a bit. She really enjoyed helping me write thank you notes for all her gifts.

I think everyone had so much fun we forgot to take photos! These are all from before the shower started.
Yummy chicken salad sandwiches (everyone kept raving about the salad, & Catherine finally confessed that it was from Costco - great to know!), quiche (not pictured), fruit salad, scones and jam! Yum!!!
Coffee, tea, ice water and lemonade... (Look at the whale fabric Amanda found! Cute!!!)
Catherine cutting her quiche!
Gretchen's dessert spread - Chai tea cupcakes with honey whip cream, chocolate cheese cake bars and cheesecake bars - SO good! And do you notice all the little details - anchors and whales everywhere. Marisela made all the paper decorations. The banner is so cute I think I might take it to the hospital to hang in out room!
Gretchen and Baby Iris enjoying the shade, & some of Gretchen's flower's in Amanda's beautiful back yard. There were lots of babies, but no toddlers - perfect for a baby shower!
Me & my banner (which lasted for about 60 seconds - it kept falling off. Iris played with and chewed on it for the rest of the party.)
PS - My favorite gift came before the shower from my sister, who couldn't attend (relocating across country and starting a new job somehow got in the way. (-; ). She sent a cute ducky towel set & the note said, "Something to dry off with after the shower." Heehee!
