Christmas arrived with all of us fighting off colds, but that actually worked out in Andrew's & my favor - we were able to sleep in until 9:30!
When Isla woke up we went and got her and she staggered into the living room in a semi-awake state. She was very impressed with the arrival of presents under the tree and full stockings. She went to her stocking right away and started eating her candy cane. We pointed out that Santa ate the treats we left and she found the letter he left for her.
We heated up our Christmas bread and baked the breakfast casserole while opening stockings. It was a drawn out process with Isla stopping to enjoy each item in her stocking. Present opening went very much the same way and we took a few breaks to eat and play with Isla's gifts. Isla loved every moment of Christmas. She was very helpful opening Isaac's presents too. The BIG gift was a trip for the family to go to Disneyland!
Present opening ended in the early afternoon and then we went over to Andrew's brother's in-laws for a Christmas party. We intended to just stay for a few hours, but we were all having so much fun that we decided to stay longer and postpone our Christmas dinner until the 26th. Isla had a lot of fun playing with her cousin and her cousin's cousins.
The next morning we all slept in and spent the whole day in our jammies and watched Isla's new Beauty & the Beast movie. Andrew's mom came over for our belated Christmas dinner - cherry pomegranate jello salad, prime rib roast, rosemary bread, and roasted veggies. It was delicious and nice to not have to prepare the day before.
My only regret was that we did not make it to church. I couldn't imagine bringing all out cold germs to mass.
Since then, it seems like our colds have taken on new life (Isla started antibiotics on Saturday, but I have a feeling her worsening symptoms were just a new cold, not a sinus infection). This week has been have of stuffy noses and grumpy moods. Since Isaac is so little we took him in to the Dr.'s yesterday for a check up. We saw my favorite fill-in pedi. He's a total surfer and dresses the part. If you saw him in the street you'd never know he was a Dr. He checked out Isaac and happily Isaac "just has a cold." Unfortunately he also has torticollis. His head is starting to get a little flat on one side from turning it to the left so often. (Torticollis commonly occurs with GERD because babies position themselves to alleviate discomfort.) We got our little list of exercises again and we are starting them up. Hopefully he will bounce back as quickly as Isla did.
