Auntie Nell!!!

We had a fantastic visit with Isla's Auntie Nell today! Her ship is visiting and we started the day with a tour of the ship and then yummy Mexican food, a great visit, and BBQ rib dinner.

We told Isla about visiting the ship a few days ago and she was ecstatic. She recently got a book from her grandparents about a tough mouse princess / adventurer named Lady Nell, so Auntie Nell was a bit of a celebrity before she ever arrived.

Then yesterday, Isla abruptly changed her tune and began to worry. She asked us if there was going to be big waves on the ship and whether Auntie Nell's ship was going to move. I tried to explain that the ship would be parked like when we park our car at Trader Joe's parking lot. She wasn't convinced, so Andrew gave her a nice explanation of a port and she seemed less anxious.

Today she was excited until we got to all the ships and she pointed to each of them and said, "That's ok. We don't have to go on that ship." But after asking Auntie Nell about big waves and movement Isla was reassured and we toured the ship. She was anxious at first - it didn't help that a loud horn was blown when we first arrived - but she warmed up quickly and had fun driving the ship, eating a twizzler in the mess hall and seeing the decks and engine room. Auntie Nell gave us a fantastic tour filled with lots of details and interesting facts.

It was such a fun visit! We can't wait until her ship is in port again!
